Austin, Texas (March 10, 2016) Highland Resources, Inc. announced today that it has signed two new office tenants for its mixed-use development, Lamar Central, located at 38th Street and North Lamar Boulevard. AcademicWorks and Architectural Engineers
Collaborative (AEC) have secured office space at the recently completed Class-A building, which includes three floors of office space and a ground-floor retail component.

We re always thrilled to have great local companies in the mix at Lamar Central, and AcademicWorks and AEC are no exception, said David Bodenman, Highland Resources Vice President. We ve received such a strong response to the building s location and amenities from employers. I hope AcademicWorks and AEC will really enjoy everything Lamar Central has to offer.

AcademicWorks signed a five-year lease for 10,288 square feet on the third floor of the building. The company has approximately 40 employees and provides scholarship-management solutions for public and private universities, community colleges and foundations, and was recently named a best place to work by Fortune Magazine. Currently operating on Shoal Creek Blvd., AcademicWorks will move to its new space at Lamar Central late this summer.

Lamar Central s prime location is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and Central Market, said Joe Price, president and general counsel of Academic Works. Highland has built an incredibly attractive building that includes great parking, an outdoor courtyard and retail on the ground floor.

AEC has signed an eight-year lease for approximately 3,945 square feet on the third floor of the building. The firm has 17 employees and provides structural engineering for commercial and public buildings. Notable work includes the Barbara Jordan Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, the Long Center, the Convention Center Expansion and the United States Courthouse. Move-in is scheduled for May 2016.

Lamar Central is a modern, sophisticated building centrally located in Austin, said Chuck Naeve, P.E. and principal at AEC. The building and the location offer a creative energy that our team finds inspiring. Highland s management team provides exceptional service and we look forward to a long, collaborative relationship.

The office space at Lamar Central is a great fit for AcademicWorks as the company continues to grow, said AcademicWorks leasing representative Andrew Creixell of CSA Realty Group. It s ideally located and offers a ton of area attractions to employees.

Added Tim Jarvis of BBD Commercial and AEC leasing representative, Lamar Central is an impressive structure with high-end design and practical features that accommodate AEC s team, like an open-aired courtyard, dining options and changing rooms for active commuters.

Additional tenants include Kendra Scott Design, Regus, Westlake Dermatology, Pennybacker Capital and dining destinations Snooze Eatery and Chameleon Hospitality. For a full list of current tenants at Lamar Central, visit www.LamarCentral.com/tenants.

About AEC
Architectural Engineers Collaborative (AEC) was founded in 1998 by experienced structural engineers with a mission to practice architectural engineering. The company’s name is descriptive of the ongoing mission and intrinsic belief that structural design and architectural design are inseparable in the realm of building. The architectural engineer extends his or her design role beyond the mathematic and economic evaluation of a structural framework to examine the impact of structure on the building as a whole. The engineers at AEC understand and embrace the basic constraints of site, program, sustainability, and budget in order to design structures that are complementary to the goals of our clients. The resultant buildings are improved functionally, environmentally, economically, and aesthetically. For more information, please visit https://aecollab.com/.
